The Chennai Super Kings Founded in 2008, is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu that plays in the Indian Premier League. The team is Owned by N. Srinivasan, India Cements captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and coached by Stephen Fleming, a former New Zealand cricketer. Player    are Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dwayne Bravo, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, John Hastings, Faf du Plessis, Ashish Nehra, Ishwar Pandey, Samuel Badree, Baba Aparajith, Mithun Manhas, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mohit Sharma, Ronit More, Pawan Negi, Vijay Shankar, Matt Henry

Much like the previous seasons of the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings have decided to retain all their allowed players – yes, a maximum of five players are allowed to be retained and the Super Kings held back all of them, to go into the competition with a steady team alright but then again, they were left with very little money to buy a lot of good players from the market.

Who they did buy from the market was Brendon McCullum, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Smith, three players from different countries but all of whom can hit the long ball. Of course, it is difficult to see all three of them to make it to the starting 11 of the side given how they would want to bring in a quick foreign player like Ben Hilfenhaus, John Hastings, Matt Henry or even a spinner Samuel Badree.

The Super Kings will be led by India skipper MS Dhoni but the good news for them is that they also have Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle-order while R Ashwin could lead the spin bowling attack.

Interestingly, the Super Kings have made a couple of good purchases in the form of Mohit Sharma, Ashish Nehra and Ishwar Pandey to prop up their pace bowling strength, especially given that the Indian quicks have trouble in keeping the runs down on most occasion.

Mithun Manhas and Baba Aparjith could be fighting for one middle-order slot in the Super Kings lineup.
