Azamgarh/Lucknow: The debate on terrorism is once again making headlines after the controversial remark by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who had said that terror training were being given in RSS and BJP camps and that terrorism was flourishing under the leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The BJP also made quick reactions over Shinde's remark by saying that it never criticised the Central Government when it banned SIMI. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad had said, "We never said drew similarities between SIMI with Muslim-terror. All terrorists are terrorist only without any affiliation to any religion".

The Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) is currently facing ban and its former President, Dr Shahid Badr Falahi is trying in court to prove that SIMI was never involved in any terror-related activities. The Congress and BJP now stand exposed in view of the recent controversial statements made by their respective leaders.

Daily Bhaskar spoke to Dr Shahid Badr Falahi on a variety of issues including terrorism, state and Central Government's handling the terror cases, Indian court, Pakistan and Ajmal Kasab.

Following are the excerpts from the interview.

Who according to you are terrorists, if not Muslims?

As soon as terror attack happens anywhere in India, be it in a temple or a mosque; explosion in Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi or a bomb blast in Ajmer Dargah; a bomb blast in train or terror attack in a court of law in UP; The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is that: It must a Muslim who have done it. No one will question Raj Thackeray or P Chidambaram for their controversial comments against anyone. That means, it is already in the conscience of the people that Muslims are the terrorists alone.

Despite the fact that Muslims cry for their innocence saying they don’t have nothing to do with terrorism as terrorism has no religion. At the height of it all, when an accused is produced in the court, lawyers refuse to represent the case. Instead, they would thrash the accused, play with their beard despite the fact that the case is still subjudice in the court and the person is still an accused and not a convict. When Tarique Azmi would go in court, he would be beaten and thrashed by lawyers. When Shoaib Azmi (advocate) would stand to represent their case in court, he would be killed in broad day light.

As opposed to this, when Pragya Thakur or Colonol Purohit would be produced in court, they would be welcomed and garlanded in public. Somebody will be given a title of Mangal Pandey. And this is happening in this country alone. No one is here to listen to what Muslims say, because it is already assumed that they are the terrorists behind any and every attack, bomb blast, blast in train, temple, mosque, court etc. According to Islamic law, it is not the police or people who are supposed to punish anyone, rather it is judiciary that has the power and right to give punishment to people for their crime, and that too if found guilty. The police are only supposed to present the accused before the court, and it is up to court to rule whether or not that person is involved in the case.

We witness a different approach altogether when it comes to terrorism.  Even when police kill some, that also falls under the category of terrorism, but it is not the case here in India.

Now a days, people all faced with different kinds of terrorism. We are the victim of terror that government perpetrates upon us. The ban on SIMI is a glaring example of this terror. Muslims are being victimized on the pretext of ban on SIMI and the media has acted as a partner and the catalyst in this propaganda of government. The Congress is more venomous than RSS.

How does SIMI sees India as a nation?

In theory, people who have sacrificed more should have more rights. History and records prove that Muslims in this country have sacrificed more than any other community. We fought the Battle of Plassey in the form of Nawab Sirajuddaula. Even today, we can see the pillar erected in Plassey. It is in records as to who were the people who were opposed to British; and who colluded with them with sycophancy.

In South, Tipu Sultan bravely fought with British and died during his struggle against the British Empire in India.

On the contrary, RSS has never given a slightest of their blood for this country. But, when it comes to rights, they stand first in the queue.

This is an excerpt from the interview. Daily Bhaskar will bring more on it.
