Syrian Electronic Army warns Skype to 'stop spying on people'

Washington, Jan 2 : Hacking group, Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), reportedly posted messages on Microsoft-owned video-chat service Skype's blog and its social media accounts, warning it to stop spying on people.

The SEA posted the anti-surveillance message on Skype's Twitter account and later on its blog.

According to Cnet, following revelations by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden that Skype installed 'back door' that enabled government surveillance of Skype video and audio calls.

On Skype's Facebook account, the SEA featured a broader message about Microsoft's communications services: "Don't use Microsoft emails (hotmail, outlook), They are monitoring your accounts and selling it to the governments. More details soon. #SEA."

All the posts by the SEA were promptly deleted from the respective sites.

Meanwhile, Skype acknowledging the hack assured that no user information had been compromised in the attack. (ANI)
