NEW DELHI: Acer has brought in its new tablet, the Iconia W4 tablet, an upgrade of the Iconia W3 model. The new tablet is faster and lighter than its predecessor and has a better screen. It is also the first device from Acer to run on Microsoft's latest Windows 8.1 operating system. 

 
Iconia W4's 8-inch IPS display has 1280x800p resolution and features Zero Gap touch technology and 170-degree viewing angles. It is powered by Intel's new 1.8GHz BayTrail processor and offers storage options of 32GB and 64GB; it also supports microSD card up to 32GB. Connectivity options in the tablet include Wi-Fi, microUSB, microHDMI and Bluetooth 4.0. 
 
The new Acer tablet has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. Acer is also offering a microfibre Crunch Cover with the device for $40. The company is also giving a Crunch Keyboard that can be connected via Bluetooth for $80. 
 
The device is expected to hit the US market later this month at $329.99 for the 32GB model and $379.99 for the 64GB variant. It will have new Windows 8.1 features like enhanced search and sharing, Internet Explorer 11, improved touch optimization as well as the Start button. 
 
It will compete against similar Windows tablets by the likes of Dell, Lenovo etc.
