‘Jayantabhai Ki Love Story’, as the name clearly suggests is the love story of a Gangster. Released in the Valentine Week, the makers sure targeted young couples however it is nothing more than a disappointment. Debutante Vinnil Markal fails to present a novel love saga, and the gangster track too fails to impress.

Jayantabhai (Vivek Oberoi) now has a new neighbor Simran (Neha Sharma) whose family lives in the outskirts of Mumbai. She has been laid off her job due to the 2G Spectrum Scam and so has to shift to a rented apartment. Jayantabhai is Altafbhai’s right hand competing with his rivals. Sparks fly between the two neighbors and then starts a been-there-seen-that kind of a love story.

Playing a goon and speaking Tapori language is Vivek’s forte and you can absolutely find no flaws in his portrayal of Jayantabhai. However, the director could not manage to give justice to his caliber as an actor. Neha Sharma shows little improvement, however she still has a long way to go. Nasser shines in whatever little he has and the rest of the supporting cast is wasted that they have nothing much to do.

Markan makes use of all the possible cinematic liberties that he could think of and makes the film an average affair. The production quality too is of very low quality. Where the industry has been striving hard to reach international standards, JBKLS is way behind. The music is okay but nothing that will be hummed for a long time. Cinematography and background score too is mediocre. However, there are a few scenes that a Mumbai city lover will enjoy.

Vivek’s charm does make you sit till the end to watch that you might just get lucky by the climax arrives, but no luck there too. The actor is good but unfortunately has made bad career choices. If you desire to watch the film, watch it only for him.
