image NEW DELHI: Seems mobile giant Nokia too is all set to join the big screen phones fray. Speculations are rife that the company is readying its biggest Lumia smartphone yet. According to a report in technology websiteGSMInsider, the Finnish manufacturer is working on a smartphone called Lumia 625 that has a 4.7-inch display. image As long-rumored, YouTube is launching paid channels in a pilot program starting today. A small number of shows, including Sesame Street and UFC, will begin offering channels that can only be accessed after paying an apparently variable subscription fee, which starts at $0.99 per month. A full list of channels can be found on YouTube's Channels page, including offerings from film distributors Magnet and comedy channel Laugh Factory. Some channels will offer yearly discounts, and all will come with a 14-day free trial. image THE HAGUE: Dutch government websites were paralysed for several hours overnight after a mass cyberattack which targeted several ministerial sites, a spokesman said. 
"The government's sites have been the target of aDDoS attack since last night around 8:00 pm (1800 GMT)," Robert Wester told AFP, referring to a denial of service attack in which hackers bombard sites with traffic in order to jam them.

The Norwegian software developer's mobile web browser will be the exclusive third-party browser to be pre-installed on all Android devices byCelkon, Karbonn, Lava and Intex, while, Opera mini will be pre-installed on select Android devices by Fly, Zen and HCL ME tablets.

image HELSINKI: Nokia will unveil new models in its Asha range of mid-tier phones, after first-quarter results showed a sharp fall in sales of mobile phones while management focused on boosting sales of Lumia smartphones.

image SAN FRANCISCO: Yahoo chief Marissa Mayer hauled in $36.6 million in pay, bonuses and stock last year after just six months at the helm of the internet firm, with some of that time spent on maternity leave.

Mayer's base pay of $454,862 was fattened with a $1.12 million performance bonus and about $35 million in stock, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mayer's annual base pay this year will be one million dollars and she is eligible for many times that amount in stock and bonuses if she hangs on to the post.

image LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh died of cardiac arrest in a Lahore hospital in the wee hours on Thursday after being comatose for nearly a week following a brutal assault by fellow inmates in a high-security Pakistani jail, officials said.

"I received a call from the doctor on duty (at Jinnah Hospital) at 1am (1:30 IST) informing me that Sarabjit is no more," Mahmood Shaukat, the head of a medical board that was supervising 49-year-old Sarabjit's treatment, told.

image NEW DELHI: Former Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf's pre-arrest bail plea was rejected by Pakistan's supreme court on Thursday after Islamabad high court ordered his immediate arrest in the same day, according to Pakistan's Dawn website. According to reports, police have reached his farmhouse — where he fled to — with the court's arrest order after the Islamabad high court order to arrest him immediately.

Earlier, Musharraf was ordered to be arrested immediately by the Islamabad high court over the sacking of 60 judges during emergency rule in 2007, but amid high drama he fled from the premises despite thick security blanket.
