image In the light of Supreme Court's recent directive and to curb the acid attacks, Madhya Pradesh government has tightened the rules regarding sale of acids, and introduced a jail term and heavy fine as penalty. Those selling acids without a valid license, or not maintaining a proper record of sale, will face a jail term of three months and fine of Rs 50,000, as per the new rules.   Further, the buyer will have to provide a photo-identity proof to the seller. The President's office has introduced a "registration charge" of Rs 25 per person per visit for individuals and groups of people below 30. A group of 30 visitors will be charged Rs 600 while more than 30 people will be charged Rs 600 and an additional Rs 25 for every extra person.   Children below the age of 12 years are exempt from charges. image New Delhi: Petrol price was on Wednesday hiked by 70 paisa per litre, the fifth increase in rates in two months, and diesel by 50 paisa per litre on firming international oil prices.   The increase in rates, which will be effective Wednesday midnight, are excluding local sales tax or VAT. The actual hike will be higher and will vary from city to city.   Petrol price in Delhi will go up by 84 paisa to Rs 71.28 per litre while it will cost Rs 78.61 per litre in Mumbai as against Rs 77.73 currently.   This is the fifth increase in rates since June and in all petrol prices have gone up by a massive Rs 6.82 per litre.   Oil firms had on June 1 raised prices by

image The government on Wednesday extended the last date for filing of income tax returns by five days to August 5.   The due date, which was July 31, has been extended in wake of "unprecedented surge" in number of I-T returns being filed electronically.   "As a measure of taxpayers convenience, it has been decided to extend the due date of filing of returns from July 31, 2013 to August 5, 2013," the Finance Ministry said.   As per the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), there has been an unprecedented surge in number of returns being e-filed.   This year till July 30, about 92 lakh returns have been electronically filed, which is 46.8 per

image As part of its efforts to curb speculative trading, the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi) toughened disclosure rules for hedge funds and other alternative investment funds.

The capital market regulator asked hedge funds and other alternative investment funds to implement an all-inclusive risk management framework and have a sturdy compliance function according to the size, complexity and risk profile of their business.
