About Sam Higginbottom Institute Of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences
Sam Higginbottom Institute Of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS), Charni Road, Mumbai Established in 1910 Allahabad Agricultural Institute was established in 1910, as a Department of Allahabad Christian College (presently known as Ewing Christian College).In 1911, the Agricultural and Technical Departments of the College were shifted across the Jamuna River from Allahabad Christian College, on a 264 acre of badly eroded land purchased for the purpose of the Agricultural Institute.Presently, the University owns and holds about 600 acres of land.In 2009, Allahabad Agricultural Institute - Deemed University was rechristened as Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS) which is Christian Minority Institution under article 30 of the constitution of India in honour of the founder.
