With the year 2012 concluding, one can notice all the movie award events taking place. Last year too many wonderful films were offered to the audiences. Among them “Barfi” had been a commercially successful film.

It won the maximum number of nominations in various categories at the 58th Filmfare Awards 2012, that included, best actor (male), best actor (female), best film, and best director. “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” that is Yash Chopra’s last directorial film gives “Barfi” tough competition.

“Barfi” depicts the love story of a deaf-and-mute carefree young boy played by Ranbir Kapoorand an autistic young girl played by Priyanka Chopra. The film also starred Ileana D’Cruz in a pivotal role and was directed by Anurag Basu. The film had received a huge response from the audience when it made it to the theatres. This film has been nominated in nine categories. On the other hand, “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” has been nominated in seven categories at the Filmfare awards.

In addition to Shah Rukh and Ranbir, those who are also contending for the “best actor in a leading role (male)” are Irrfan Khan for “Paan Dingh Tomar”, Hrithik Roshan for “Agneepath”, Salman Khan for “Dabangg 2” and Manoj Bajpayee for “Gangs of Wasseypur”.

Apart from Priyanka Chopra, those who are nominated for the “best actor in leading role (female)” category are Kareena Kapoor for “Heroine”, Deepika Padukone for “Cocktail”, Sridevi for “English Vinglish”, Vidya Balan for Kahaani and Parineeti Chopra for “Ishaqzaade”.

For the segment of best director Gauri Shinde for “English Vinglish”, Shoojit Sircar for “Vicky Donor”, Sujoy Ghosh for “Kahaani”, Anurag Kashyap for ”Gangs of Wasseypur” and Anurag Basu for “Barfi” have been nominated.

For the best film category, “Barfi”, “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “Vicky Donor”, “Kahaani” and “English Vinglish”.

The film “Gangs of Wasseypur” belongs to the genre of crime thriller and because of its concept and performances it won great accolades. It has won six nominations in total. Karan Johar’s film “Agneepath” has won five nominations whereas “Vicky Donor” has won four nominations.

All the three films- “Talaash”, “English Vinglish” and “Kahaani”- have been nominated in three categories.

A nomination party was held on Monday night that was attended by the Bollywood glitterati. Priyanka Chopra, Imran Khan, Deepika Padukone, Srideevi, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, HumaQureshi and Ranveer Singh were spotted at the party.

This year “Filmfare” awards have created a unique trophy with a special golden base to celebrate the 100 years of the Indian cinema. These trophies will be given out to the winners on the 20th of January.
