image Social-networking site Twitter is reportedly working on a new feature called "edit" that would allow users to make changes to their tweets even after they have been published, The Desk reported.

Citing anonymous sources, The Desk reported that the new feature would allow users to edit their already published tweets. However, sources "close to the project" also said that the new feature would offer a limited time period to make small changes in the published tweets.

It means users will be able to add a couple of words or fix a typo in their already published tweets. There would be a limit of one editing session per tweet.

image As if mysterious barges and a secret research-and-development lab weren't enough, Google has now acquired Boston Dynamics, a company whose unassuming name belies its revolutionary purpose: making rugged, next-generation robots for the U.S. military.

These robots include BigDog, which can lift and throw heavy objects, WildCat, a noisy, galloping quadruped and Cheetah, the fastest land robot in the world, which can run more than 28 miles per hour. Boston Dynamics is also developing humanoid robots designed to work in hazardous environments.

China's Chang'e 3 lunar lander is currently orbiting the moon with its solar panels and landing legs deployed. If all goes well, the lander — which is carrying China's first robotic rover — for a planned soft-landing on Saturday, Dec. 14, Beijing Time at Sinus Iridum, also known the Bay of Rainbows.

image      The newest humanoid robot from NASA just might be mistaken for a superhero.

The space agency's new Valkyrie — a 6 foot 2 inch tall (1.9 meters) robot with a glowing NASA logo on its chest — bears an uncanny resemblance to Marvel's superhero Iron Man, but this space age automaton was built for work, not comic book heroics. A team of engineers at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Tex., designed and built Valkyrie in just nine months, according to press reports.

The robot was developed for the DARPA Robotics Challenge taking place at the end of the month and is designed to help humans during disasters.

Robot Justin, a humanoid two-arm system, developed by the German air and space agency, Deutsches Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt, can perform given tasks autonomously such as catching balls or serving coffee. When you break down this activity into the discrete biological functions required to accomplish it, it's not simple at all. You need sensors, transmitters and effectors. You need to calculate how hard to throw based on the distance between

image   With remote-sensing satellites, scientists have found the coldest places on Earth, just off a ridge in the East Antarctic Plateau. The coldest of the cold temperatures dropped to minus 135.8 F. Where is the coldest temperature ever measured on Earth? "It's in Antarctica of course," Ted Scambos, lead scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo., said here today (Dec. 9) at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union.

That temperature? A mind- — and body-numbing — minus 136 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 93.2 Celsius), measured in pockets scattered near a high ice ridge between Dome Argus and Dome Fuji, two summi

image NASA engineers are developing climbing legs for the International Space Station’s robotic crewmember Robonaut 2 (R2), marking another milestone in space humanoid robotics. The legless R2, currently attached to a support post, is undergoing experimental trials with astronauts aboard the orbiting laboratory. Since its arrival at the station in February 2011, R2 has performed a series of tasks to demonstrate its functionality in microgravity. These new legs, funded by NASA’s Human Exploration and Operations and Space Technology mission directorates, will provide R2 the mobility it needs to help with regular and repetitive tasks inside and outside the space station. image   Scientists have found evidence of an ancient freshwater lake on Mars well suited to support microbial life, the researchers said Monday. The lake, located inside Gale Crater where the rover landed in August 2012, likely covered an area 31 miles (50 km) long and 3 miles (5 km) wide, thoughits size varied over time.

Analysis of sedimentary deposits gathered by Nasa's Mars rover Curiosity shows the lake existed for at least tens of thousands of years, and possibly longer, geologist John Grotzinger, with the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, told reporters at the American Geophysical Union conference in San Francisco.
